Each year, holiday cards are collected to distribute at military installations, veterans hospitals, and other military locations around the world. LUT and UCOH member Mary Kennedy-Smith is the champion for the UCOH “Holiday Mail for Heroes” campaign this year.  There will be a box where you can drop off cards today and for the following three Sundays, November 9,16 and 23rd.  There will also be cards available for you to sign on the round table in the foyer beginning November 2nd.

There are specific guidelines for the cards:

  • Do not put the cards in an envelope.
  • Every card received is screened for hazardous materials and then reviewed by Red Cross volunteers. •
  • Please sign all cards and use generic salutations such as “Dear Service Member.” •
  • Cards addressed to specific individuals cannot be delivered through this program. •
  • Only standard-sized cards are being accepted. •
  • Do not send or include letters.
  • Do not include email or home addresses on the cards: the program is not meant to foster pen pal relationships.
  • Do not include inserts of any kind, including photos. •
  • Note: Refrain from choosing cards with glitter or using loose glitter as it can aggravate health issues of ill and injured warriors.

Help us as we send holiday greetings to our troops serving around the globe
