To the People of the Netherlands,

I am writing to tell you how very sorry I am for your tremendous losses in the tragedy of the downed Malaysia Flight 17. We have watched from here in utter disbelief and dismay at how this extremely difficult loss has been so grossly mishandled. After reading one of the stories of Mr. Timmermans’ remarks to his colleagues in the European Union, I was moved to write.

In our church, we are praying for you and in particular for the families and friends of those who died. We are praying for each soul, knowing that God’s Love and comfort will find you and will help you through this, even as His angels were there to receive each one who perished that day.

I cannot speak for all of the United States but I am quite sure that millions here join me in extending love and sympathy to these families and to you as a nation.

In our Sunday services on July 27 at our church, we will pause and remember you and your loved ones, your country’s leadership and these precious beings who have moved from your sight but will always live in your hearts even as you live in ours.

Sincerely,

Rev. Steve Bolen
