8:00 am Sunday
The 8:00 a.m. Sunday Service offers those who are interested in a contemplative experience the opportunity to explore the inner meanings of New Thought/Ancient Wisdom, and time to sit in silence with sojourners on the path.
The Service begins with soft, sacred music in a candle-lit room in Unity Oaks. We open in prayer, listen to a talk focused on the inner meanings of sacred Scripture, then sit together in meditation for approximately 10 minutes. We use the Judeo-Christian texts as our primary source and draw on other wisdom traditions to illuminate and deepen our understanding of these texts. We also look at the metaphysical meanings, the historical context, and the deeper meanings found in the earliest Greek manuscripts. After meditation, we close with a candle lighting ceremony during which participants can set an intention, say a prayer, or anchor themselves in gratitude.
The Service ends promptly at 8:45 so that those who volunteer at the 9:25 Service or with the children’s ministry can be available for those duties.
For those who are interested in further exploring ideas from the morning talk or discussing insights from their meditation, a “going deeper” group meets immediately afterwards.
The 8:00 a.m. Contemplative Service has been described as cozy, casual, and there is coffee! We invite you to join us. It is worth the early wake up time!
