The Board of Trustees has some exciting and important news to share with you. This week we had an initial phone conference with the Transitional Ministry Team that Unity Worldwide Ministry’s (UWM) Member Services Division is recommending for our church.
For context, this is a new process for all of us. We have been taking many steps to ensure that UWM can match the right Transition Minsters with our community. Our introductory conversation follows several months of work. This has included: completion and submittal of assessment packages from all of the Board members; analysis of that information by UWM’s staff; an interview with all UCOH Board members; and a search for the best-qualified and positioned Unity Transitional Ministers.
So, what is a Transitional Ministry Team?
Unlike with an Interim Minister as we had in the past, a Transitional Ministry Team has specialized training to help congregations like ours navigate times of change in preparing for a new, permanent Senior Minister(s).
A Transitional Ministry Team includes an ordained Unity Minister who would provide primary ministerial support, along with another ordained Unity Minister who would provide support and consulting at specific intervals.
UWM has recommended to us the team of: Rev. Elizabeth Longo as our primary Transitional Minister and Rev. David Mosher in a consulting role. We are very excited at the prospect of having such experienced and loving ministers as Rev. Longo and Rev. Mosher to guide and walk with our community as we heal and prepare ourselves for our next permanent Senior Minister(s).
Please hold the date of Sunday, February 23, 2020 to attend services and meet with Unity Transitional Ministers.
We want everyone – the congregation, staff, chaplains, LUTs and Board – to have the opportunity to meet Rev. Longo and Rev. Mosher. We will be providing more details about the day’s activities to be held after the 11:25 service as they are developed.
