Dearest,

How ya’ holdin’ up!? I’ll be honest, this has gone on longer than I expected. Lately, my thought has been, “Okay, jokes over. Seriously… okay, seriously! And yet, here we all are!

Going into this time of “too much time,” I anticipated finishing forgotten projects and at the end of each day I say, “Okay, tomorrow.” Now I’m actively abandoning NEW projects.  I started and stopped a project within a week. I’ve stopped projects I’d only thought about. I’ve had feelings of hopelessness only to bounce back overnight ready to take on the world, with my mask! Something keeps me holding on to the belief that this will all work out for our GOOD!  And in the middle of all this, Happy 4th of July! – We get to imagine a new way of celebrating Independence Day.  This kinda works out for me because I’ve never been a big fan of fireworks. I don’t like what they symbolize and a friend of mine from high school blew off 3 fingers with explosives.

July 4 Itinerary –

We are replacing our Boy Scouts hosted a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser, with pancake breakfast al fresco, maybe even a breakfast picnic! Why not? And yes, I will STILL donate to the Boy Scouts!

The neighborhood parade will be replaced with a family bicycle ride (dog in tow). I won’t get to stroll behind the fire truck with a thermos of coffee, but I will get to burn off some Covid calories.

After that, I’ll video call my family instead of visiting and later we’ll social distance a cookout with my next-door neighbor. Very tame. And I’m looking forward to ALL of it!

How much can we withstand? We are finding out. Collectively we’re growing and evolving. I wonder what new technologies will exist because of this experience. I’m sure there’s more to come. We haven’t even had a major weather incident in Texas yet. Oy! Let’s start imagining a mild hurricane season.
