Dear Friends,

As I write this, it has been less than a day since the two-mile wide tornado ripped through Moore, Oklahoma, leaving great loss of life and tremendous destruction in its wake. Others have been deeply affected in recent days, as well, through other tornadoes in the central section of our nation. As a Staff, along with our Prayer Team and Prayer Chaplains, we are concentrating prayers on these individuals. We are seeking to acknowledge this extreme loss and bring it to the Light of Spirit knowing that God’s peace is there, and that the grief and sense of loss that people are walking through is part of it.

I have spoken with the Spiritual Leader of the closest (to Moore) Unity ministry, Unity Church of Norman. We are sending them a donation which will support the relief work that they do there. Some in their congregation have been directly affected. We are donating to the Oklahoma Tornadoes Children in Emergency Fund that has already deployed a response team to provide support, like Child Friendly Spaces, where girls and boys can take part in supervised activities and play to relieve stress and fear. This supports the adults, too, as parents are freed up to come to grips with the storm’s devastation. That is one aspect of the support they are providing. We are also donating to the American Red Cross to support their efforts there as we did recently for our neighbors in West, TX after the explosion.

Your prayers will continue to make a difference for them, even as our community reaches out to help them with our financial giving in their time of need.
