Sweet Sorrow and a Heart Filled with Gratitude
As I have contemplated saying goodbye to this spiritual community, my mind has turned to Juliet’s words to Romeo: “Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight until it be morrow.”
Goodbyes can be tender and painful; and this pain has a sweetness to it. It reminds us of the way in which love has woven us together and touched our souls. I view goodbyes as a way to honor the sacredness of our connection, and to nurture that connection as distance transforms our relationship.
As I release you to your future with Rev. David, my heart is both tender and full. I shall miss you deeply. I also celebrate the good work you have done and see a bright future under Rev. David’s leadership. Over these past few years, this community has come together as a cohesive whole. It has been an incredible blessing to walk alongside you and see you embrace the transitional journey with open minds, open hearts and open wills. I have seen you heal, grow and transform – and I know that there is more ahead; for transformation is a journey without a destination.
As I move on, I hope that some of you will stay connected with me. I have authorized the staff to make my email available to any of you who ask. I welcome communication about how you are doing personally and about the wonderful things happening at UCoH.
I also want to be clear that I will not voice any opinions on the decisions or strategic direction of this ministry. I have complete faith in Rev. David’s leadership and will be available to him if he chooses to reach out to me. If you address questions or concerns to me, I will refer you back to Rev. David.
So, as I step away, I honor that this parting is a sweet sorrow. My heart is overflowing with gratitude for the opportunity to be part of your communal journey. I will be holding this community in my heart and prayers and rooting for you on from afar.
Enjoy your partnership with Rev. David.
I love you and will miss you.
Namaste:
Rev. Cynthia
