UHome Service Activities

The UHome group, a UCOH Ministry, will join others this Saturday, September 28, beginning at 9:30 a.m., at 901 Neal Street, Austin, to help sort and deliver shoes to homeless students’ schools and shelters in cooperation with the Homeless Liaison in Austin ISD. We would be grateful to any and all who can come volunteer to help!

In addition, the UHome group is also collecting hotel samples – lotions, shampoos, mouthwash, etc., – for homeless students, as well as for homeless residents in the Center for Survivors of Torture in Austin.  Please bring your unused hotel items to UCOH. There is a bin by the Food Pantry in the hallway where we will collect them, and deliver them to individuals who need them.  For a young lady in a shelter or doubled-up in a crowded home, a lovely shampoo or lotion can make the difference between attending school or not, between feeling good about herself or not. Young gentlemen as well!  Thank you ahead of time for all you do to make UCOH “A place that love is building,” and from which love flows, especially to our neediest children.

“Uhome” is a group of social justice activists at Unity Church of the Hills who seeks to help homeless students in the K-12 educational system.  Our vision states, “Homeless children and families living within the Unity Church of the Hills geographical area will have their holistic needs met, will find a life of abundance, enjoy access to education, and experience full and meaningful lives.”
