What lead you to want to serve on the Board?

We had been attending UCOH for a few years and I had volunteered in the office when there was only one employee. I enjoyed working in the office and soon another person was brought on staff, we were growing. It was exciting to be a part of that as a volunteer. It became evident that serving in any way I could was what I wanted to do, and when I was asked, I jumped at the chance.

Do you currently or have you served on any other Volunteer teams?

Lenore Scott wanted to have a Women’s Retreat and I was asked to be on the Planning Team. It was very exciting for all on the team to work together, the Retreat was great and we continued having the retreats. I have served on a number of teams for the church. I was on the team that planned the 20th Anniversary Dinner Dance and other activities around our Anniversary. Over the years I have held all of the offices on the board. I guess that means I have served on the board a lot.

How long have you been a member of UCOH?

22 years.

Something we should know about you?

I was born in Nebraska and we moved to Long Beach, California when I was two. When I was old enough, my grandfather would take me to the Long Beach Pike where there was a variety of thing to do, especially pony rides. My favorite pony was Spike and each time we went there I would get to ride him and thought that was “big stuff” When I was old enough, I would join my friends at the beach, and of course, we would often get a little sun burn. I lived in Long Beach until I married Mills and moved in with him until we moved to Austin in 1997.

Something we wouldn’t know by looking at you?

I was born in Kearney, Nebraska
