Dear UCOH Friends & Family,
The Christmas season has arrived, and we are excited to celebrate the Christ Presence within us all, giving birth to greater peace and joy! We are in wonder of the many blessings in our lives and the lives of our Spiritual home. We have so much to be grateful for; and you are among our gratitudes!
In April 2023 we hired Rev. Cynthia Vermillion-Foster to guide us both spiritually and in discovery of how we might move forward in keeping with our past, present, and future. She brings over 26 years of ministry, 15 of those spent consulting churches like ours, in the processes essential to growth. We are blessed by her guidance.
Under her leadership, we’ve stretched and transformed through workshops like the Dynamics of Polarization, The Architecture of Self-hood, and Creation Possibility. As a community, we studied Trusting Change by Karen Herring and have been embracing the opportunities that can only be found in the liminal spaces of change. Our biggest work to date was our Heritage & Healing workshop where many tears of healing and discovery were shed. We came out of that fruitful weekend with a family tree that illuminated both our accomplishments and regrets from the past 28 years of ministry. Can you believe it …28 years?! There is much to be grateful for AND lots of lessons to be learned! We feel poised to step into 2024 with our theme: Expanding the Light!
We’re also taking time in this season to honor those who have transitioned. We’ve had to say goodbye to people near and dear to our hearts. If you’ve had to say goodbye to someone this year, we wrap you in our hearts and hold you in tender loving-care. We’re holding you in prayer. May this season be a time of remembering our loved ones and celebrating their lives.
