In May, we announced that the Board had appointed a team to develop a plan for reopening Unity Church of the Hills. These are unprecedented times, and never in the 25-year history of UCOH have we had to concern ourselves with the types of issues presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Your health and safety have remained our number one priority, driving all decisions that have been made. These decisions are greatly informed by your timely responses to our survey and we are grateful for your feedback.

And while Unity Church of the Hills never closed, we long as a community to gather together in experiencing the Presence of God as a community. Therefore, we are so excited to offer our in-person 11:25am Sunday Services again, beginning on June 21, 2020! In order to maintain the physical distancing required for your safety, you will need to RSVP.  RSVPs will open at 1pm on the Sunday prior to the date you wish to attend. Seating is limited in both the Sanctuary and the Pavilion.

Please review the guidelines below before you RSVP

PLEASE NOTE: Reservations open at 1pm on Sunday, one week in advance, and closes at 1pm on Friday.

In the RSVP, you will be asked the number of people in your party, their names, and if you desire to sit in the Sanctuary or in the Pavilion. Children who are willing and able to wear a mask and abide by the other guidelines are welcome to attend. We will not be offering childcare at this time.

If you registered in advance and find that you are unable to attend, please call the Church at 512-335-4449 or email as soon as possible.

When the maximum number for each location has been reached, RSVPs will close. There will be a waiting list. Should someone who has RSVPd not be able to attend, the first person on the list will be contacted.

Please understand that by registering, you will be attending the Services voluntarily and recognize the possibility of potential risks involved.

To protect everyone’s health and to provide safe physical distancing, we want you to be aware of a few things:

Proper cleaning and sanitation of the Church is an on-going process. Certain areas (Front entrance, Foyer, Sanctuary, Bookstore, Hallway, Restrooms and Pavilion) will be cleaned again both before and after Services. All other areas should be closed off.

If you are feeling ill, please stay home. If you are in a high-risk group, we encourage you to continue watching the livestream from your home. (Yes, livestreaming will continue.) If you are uncomfortable attending or more comfortable watching from your home, you are encouraged to take advantage of our continued livestreaming.

When you arrive on the property, signage and a parking usher will direct you to parking for the venue you have chosen. Parking for the Pavilion will be to the left. Parking for the Sanctuary will be to the right.

Entrance to the Sanctuary Building will be at the front doors only. Entrance to the Pavilion will be at the end closest to the main building.

An RSVP is required for Pavilion seating as well. There is still limited seating in the Pavilion, and it will be a mask-optional area. We will continue to maintain the 6-foot physical spacing.

We will limit the number of people attending and require an RSVP check-in before you enter the building or the Pavilion. The check-in is necessary to track attendance for contact tracing purposes in the event an attendee tests positive for COVID-19.

You will be asked to sanitize your hands. In addition, there are a few self-assessment screening questions posted prior to check-in you will need to answer.

Please maintain safe distancing (6 feet) as you wait to check in and in all areas of the Church.

Check-in will open at 11:00 a.m. Please arrive early to accommodate the time needed for check-in and seating.

Volunteers will have received extensive training and we ask that you honor any requests made by them. Their first concern is the safety of your health and others.

Please be aware of and read the various signage placed at strategic locations throughout the Church grounds.

An usher will show you to the next available seat. People will be seated front to back, beginning at the 4th row. Families, couples and those already within a social/physical unit may sit together.

Each person attending the service in the Sanctuary is required to wear a mask as you approach the check-in area and enter the building. Please keep it on throughout the Service as well as the entire time you are in the building. (The only exception to this will be on the platform for the speakers and singers.) If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.

Traffic flow into restrooms will be regulated. There will be an attendant outside the restrooms to explain the process of entering and exiting the restrooms and direct you to the hand sanitizer.

Please maintain at least 6 feet of distance between you and others at all times, even as you exit the building. Ushers will assist in the exiting of the Sanctuary.

We are practicing touchless greetings (no hugs, handshakes, or other physical contact). Don’t put others in an awkward position by asking for physical contact. Namaste/bows, air hugs and jazz hands can relay your loving acknowledgement.

Our nursery and Youth Education will not be open at this time. We will not be offering childcare at this time.

There will be no printed bulletins, paper forms or handouts of any kind. Everything will be handled via digital media.

Congregational singing is discouraged as there has been some evidence that singing and talking loudly can possibly spread the virus whether an individual is showing symptoms of the virus or not.

Online giving is encouraged. However, baskets will be strategically placed in the Sanctuary for in person giving.

The Bookstore will be open. Two customers at a time will be allowed in the bookstore. Congregants are encouraged to shop in advance and place their orders ahead of time. Pre-ordered items will be made available on a shelf outside the bookstore, labeled with your name.

Water fountains will not be available for use. You are asked to bring your own water bottle.

There will not be any hospitality or indoor fellowship time offered at this time and Friendship Hall will be closed. Any after-Service fellowship will be in the Pavilion. Chairs will be placed 6-feet apart. Congregants will also have the option of fellowshipping in the parking lot.

For now, the Sunday 11:25 service will be our only public event.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as necessary.

We encourage people to arrive earlier, allow extra time to be seated in the Sanctuary and time to go to the restroom (currently limited to two people at a time).

PLEASE NOTE: Reservations open at 1pm on Sunday, one week in advance, and close at 1pm on Friday.
