Getting to know Mary Spangberg
What lead you to want to serve on the Board? We had been attending UCOH for a few years and I had volunteered in the office when there was only one employee. I enjoyed working in the office and soon another person was brought on staff, we were growing. It was exciting to be a part of that as a volunteer. It became evident that serving in any way I could was what I wanted to do, and when I was asked, I jumped at the chance. Do you currently or have you served on any other Volunteer teams?...

Bridges to Breakthrough
One of the goals we established earlier this year was to provide several opportunities for our community to intentionally reflect, heal, and prepare for our way forward as a spiritual community. Our incorporation of the work “The I of the Storm” in our Spirit Circles was one effort along that line. We want to continue to do this work as we embark on the ministerial search and “Answer the Call…” as we celebrate our...

Board Update from August 16th Virtual Board Gathering
On August 16th, 2020 we held our first Virtual Board Gathering via Zoom. We had 45+ congregants in attendance. After an opening prayer, Frank Phelan, Board President, provided some important updates, which have been pulled out of that meeting and offered here so the entire congregation can stay informed. After Frank’s update, we moved into break-out sessions and those discussions were not recorded in order to respect the privacy of our congregants during their conversations with board members....

Quotes and Affirmations for July 26 talk on Forgiveness
On Sunday, Dr. Ras Smith provided a number of great quotes as well as affirmations we can work with around the topic of Forgiveness. Here they are: Quotes: Eric Butterworth wrote: “Imelda Shanklin, one of Unity's great teachers…says in effect, ‘Father forgive me for expecting in the human that which is found only in the divine.’ Note, ‘forgive me.’ In other words, I have sinned by expecting in the human of another person something that can be found only in the Christ within the individual.”...
Update on Minister Search Process
Dear Ones, I wanted to connect with you all, as a lot has transpired over the past month. As everyone is aware, our beloved Minister Emeritus Rev. Steve Bolen finished his three-month commitment as a temporary Interim Minister at the end of June. We are so grateful for his willingness to step in and provide such a calming, centered presence during the challenging time of civil unrest coupled with the ongoing pandemic. Blessings to both Steve and Mary as they again get to...
